Another exceptionally helpful roundup on Smashing Magazine - The Ultimate Collection Of Useful Photoshop Actions.

I’ve never been much of a Photoshop actions user, but this may well change the course of time… for me, at least.

Check out the list, you might find something you don’t know how you lived without until now
Just came across a beauty of a freebie from the SpoonGraphics Blog: Free Hand Drawn Doodle Icon Set for Bloggers.

To be quite honest, I’m quite the hoarder when it comes to design resources like these. I store so many different types of elements away in my resources folder, that someday they will have to come in handy! I recommend you do the same
I’ve just discovered BlendFu, another resource for free Photoshop brushes. It seems like they are popping up all over the place as of late, hopefully there are no more and the current ones just keep on improving themselves.

BlendFu, although a little difficult to take in at first, seems to have some very interesting features. Features include: preview each brush from a set before downloading; very interesting search capabilities; you can download each brush set (as far as I can see) for Photoshop 7, CS versions and also GIMP!
Very interesting, we should be keeping an eye on this new site. Well worth a look if you’re a Photoshop brush fanatic!

Go on over to MediaSlap and check out the Photoshop brushes they have on display. Look nice, don’t they? I thought so too, but they do cost a small fee per purchase, so that isn’t as appealing.

They do however have a small selection of delectable samples that you can download! They sent me the following in a package I could give away to my readers:

The general pack includes some general stuff, such as florals, decorative elements, random doodles and doo-dads (some stunning brushes, as far as I can see).
Check out the MediaSlap website if you want to buy some premium Photoshop brushes.
In this tutorial I will teach you some of the techniques I use when designing my banners. It requires a basic knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop, but if you don’t understand anything please feel free to ask me.
I have covered all the basic steps I used when making banners, but there are obviously a lot more things you could add to this to make it your own.

Freebies
Thought I would get around to putting together another set of small freebies, so here it is: six free vector ’splatters’ in the form of an Illustrator file, woohoo!
I’m not completely sure how I would describe these … they certainly aren’t like the usual splatters you would see, I think they’re more like sprays … of paint. I know there aren’t many items here (only six, sorry), but I think these will definitely come in handy for many designs at some point.

If you like what you see in the above preview(s), you had better get downloading! Please feel free to use them for whatever you like.
Download Illustrator File (.ai, 250kb)
I reckon these would work pretty awesome as Photoshop brushes as well, so if anyone is interested I can whip them up myself, or you can of course!
Even though I consider myself a newby with Adobe Illustrator, I’ve been learning it for a few months now, and I find it very intriguing! I was inspired to design this kooky little pencil, that some would say works for icon design. So I thought I would write a tutorial on how to achieve the design of this sleek pencil using Adobe Illustrator CS3.

Note: Since Illustrator changes very little over the versions, it shouldn’t matter too much if you’re using an older version.

Freebies
After making some basic Illustrator brushes I thought I would make some Photoshop brushes. This time using a paint brush as my weapon of choice.

Note: all of the brushes in the set aren’t shown in the above preview.
If you like the look of what you see in the preview, then please feel free to download the brushes use them for whatever you like! All brushes are just under 1000px in size, so I don’t believe they’re quite suitable for print design
Download Photoshop Brushes (.rar, 800kb)
For those that don’t have CS3: If you want to use these brushes, please download this file (.png, 1.3mb), then define the brushes separately.
