    Very cool!

I love the current trends for these characters. I saw a few of them linked to tutorials for drawing characters like it, nice!

  2. Jay Zuck said at 7:03 pm on March 16, 2009

As an artist myself who does quite a bit of character design, I found the quality and quantity of your post both helpful and inspiring. Thanks so much.

hey! that’s my sketchbook…and no credit line. if you’d asked, i would’ve been thrilled to share. but it’s kinda cheesy that you didn’t even put a credit line for all those images.

please remove my drawings from your site. or just ask first. sheesh.

  4. Eli said at 6:23 pm on March 19, 2009

eweee: you’re right, no credit line is given, but I have linked every single image here to where I got them from. And I believe yours links to your Flickr page. It always has.

  5. ewee said at 6:36 pm on March 19, 2009

The link to Flickr covers you — with Flickr (they require linkbacks to any images they host).

My request was that you ask first before using my stuff, and that you include a credit if you use my stuff. I don’t think that’s unreasonable, and I’ll ask around to folks on Flickr to see what their take is on it.

Since I’ve left my license as “all rights reserved” I do have the right to ask you to take it down, and can ask Flickr’s copyright infringement folks to look into it.

    It’s a awesome collection .

  8. Nicklinc said at 8:00 pm on June 22, 2009

Maybe you should just feel proud that your illustrations appear on an “Inspiring Character Designs” post, instead of just being a toolbag and assuming that your rights have been infringed upon.

Eli, sweet job, thanks for taking the time, it’s definitely appreciated.

  9. Sumesh said at 10:28 pm on June 22, 2009

You said it, Nicklinc. The web is a vast place, no douchebag has enough time to actually worry about the infringement that the guy says has been done.

  10. Jean-Baptiste Jung said at 2:08 am on June 23, 2009

Nice collection, Sumesh! The rapper pigeon is really fun!

What an amazing collection of character designs. Man, how I love vector art. Great!

Sorry to Nicklinc and Sumesh, but you guys are so wrong. ewee has all the rights to request his images be removed. That is what ‘all rights reserved’ means. Just because you find an image on the Internet, doesn’t mean you can use it to drive traffic to your site or blog through its re-posting without consent. Some won’t mind. But if they aren’t credited they have every right to request its removal.

Very inspiring character designs. The current trends for these characters are simply awesome. Some of the accompanying tutorials are also good. But I was wondering how much these tutorials can teach you, especially about drawing characters? I mean creativity is something that’s within you. And following any particular pattern will make it monotonous. I believe you should think beyond the line……after all there is no limitation for creativity!

Okay, I’m going to rate this article with an A. A as in AWESOME! Now I’m inspired and it’s all your fault! My creative juices are flowing through my fingers, I have to go now and make something deliciously creative. Mwahaha!

    Gregory and gureisu,
I don’t think anyone is disputing ewee’s copyright ownership. But it’s one thing to say “please take down my work” and another to say, and I’m paraphrasing here, ‘credit me or I’ll find you liable for infringement.’
